School Teacher Defrauded in Ponzi Scheme

Type: Business Litigation

Carol McCullom was a school teacher who looked for a conservative bond investment for her retirement savings. Unfortunately, she invested in bonds for nursing homes that turned out to be little more than a ponzie scheme. Ms. McCullom brought a securities class action against the issuer of the bonds, the accounting firms that provided opinions on the soundness of the bonds and the underwriters. She, and others class representatives defrauded on similar nursing home bonds, recovered millions of dollars for investors across the country who had been cheated.
